The personality type I got from the Myers-Briggs personality test was ESFP which stands for Extrovert, Sensing, Feeling, and Perceiving. I got 75% extrovert, 3% sensing, 16% feeling, and 6% perceiving. This personality type loves people, excitement, and having fun. ESFPs are spontaneous and impulsive. They also get an energy boost from social gatherings. I think all of these traits describe me very well. I think I scored the highest in the extrovert area because I am a very outgoing person and love social gatherings. I get bored when I’m not around people for the most part. I also agree that I can sometimes jump from thought to thought in mid-sentence. I think I get that from my mom because she is the same way. Based on the career analysis part of the Myers-Briggs, ESFPs work best in activities which require entertaining. As a hospitality management major, I think this can be helpful in my career field because I want to be an event planner. In many events the main goal can be to entertain guests. The energy boost from social gatherings is also important in my career field. If events (social gatherings) didn’t give me an “energy boost” I do not think I would enjoy my job. In a learning point of view I think my personality type needs a class that is interactive. I also think based on my personality type online classes make it harder for me to focus and learn the material. I have noticed that I struggle to grasp the material when I take classes online.
In my classroom I would have a wall that has a giant whiteboard/projector area, a smartboard with surrounding TVs, a Starbucks, couches for students to sit on with tables in front of them. They would also have Ipads that can be used for interactive learning. There would also be a waitress that can deliver the Starbucks and that can get students any supplies they may need such as notebooks, pencils, water, tissues etc. I am a visual learner so I would like to be able to have a classroom that has the capability to use visuals and interactive tools.
I’d love to know more about your “visual learner” identity — I wonder if that will show up in your reading and your personal manifest?
