The result of my test says that I am ISTJ (Introvert, sensing, thinking judging). I have actually taken this test before, and I always receive a large percentage on the Introvert result. The concept of introversion is often confused to mean that the individual generally doesn’t like being around large groups of people, but it actually refers to the way in which one relaxes. Extroverts prefer to recharge around friends and groups of people, while introverts prefer quiet, solitary places. I fit into the introversion aspect in that I prefer solitary conditions. This isn’t to say that I’m a hermit who’d rather live in a cave, but I generally prefer to be by myself. I learn, think, and work better when I only have to worry about what I’m working on. It seems odd though that I’m an education major, whose job is to work with students, when I prefer to do so on my own. It’s not that I don’t like people either. I just like quiet, and only concentrating on the task at hand without having to consult a group.
Honestly, I don’t have much of a reaction to the other results of my test. People with the ISTJ personality type are described as logical and process oriented, and often become impatient when nonsensical theories and methods are being implemented. I can guarantee that I often become easily impatient, particularly when people make bad decisions or act without thinking. I’m not the smartest person on the planet by any means, but common sense and thoughtful decisions are a must in my book. This can however get the best of me when it comes to completing tasks that I neither want to nor see the point in doing. This might be the educator in me, but when I have assignments in certain classes that don’t seem to fit or have a real purpose, I often push them to the side, or in some cases, completely avoid them. This also leads me to become easily annoyed and impatient. Having to waste time on “busy work” assignments, particularly in college when I pay for my classes out of pocket, makes me question why I even have to take the class. I enjoy classes like this where every assignment has a purpose and relates to things outside this specific course.

In my classroom picture, I drew how I would like my band room to look. It is practical, but also a bit unrealistic for the average room. I have several practice rooms for individual students. The back wall is lined with percussion cabinets and student lockers. I have a functioning sound system which really helps during marching season. I have even included a bathroom so that students don’t have to leave as well as two changing rooms with uniform closets. My office is my sacred space where all of my music is organized and students are prohibited from touching it. I also have a coffee station in there because I need coffee; gallons of coffee.
(I apologize for my lack of drawing skills)
Great drawing … I like that you thought about a specific classroom!
